Letter - We all have the same rights

To the editor:

I am responding to Dennis Dalman’s “The evil ‘they’ are out to get ‘us’ ” column that was in your paper on January 18, 2013.

My 17-year-old son, 15-year-old daughter and I are all members of the NRA. Does that make us bad people? We’re also Republicans; so does that make us doubly bad people?

Dennis Dalman exercises his First Amendment rights every time he writes one of his one-sided columns, where the Democrats are almost always right and Republicans are always wrong. He must feel he’s more deserving of his rights guaranteed to him by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights therein than law-abiding gun owners are of their rights guaranteed to them by the same.

How would he feel if they started putting restrictions on his First Amendment rights? I’m sure he’d feel just as strongly about that as gun owners do of their current situation involving their Second Amendment rights. But, I forgot, he’d just blame the Republicans as always anyway.
