Alexandria lost its third straight game by one goal last week with a 3-2 loss to Sartell-St. Stephen.
The Cardinals got a late goal from Jack Wensman after pulling goaltender Ben Allen in a 3-1 game. They couldn’t get any closer than that as they fell to 8-8-1 overall.
Alexandria’s last five losses have come by just one goal. The Cardinals took a lead in this one as Parker Revering scored from the blue line off a pass from Wensman in the second period. The Sabres had an answer almost five minutes later as Matthew Ringhand scored to send it into the second intermission in a 1-1 tie.
Sartell got outshot 35-33 overall but held a 16-10 advantage in the final period. That allowed the Sabres to connect on two early goals that swung the momentum in their favor.
