Alexandria took on Class AA’s No. 13 ranked North Wright County at home Saturday, but couldn’t find a way to put the puck past goalie Alex LaMere, the state’s sixth best in save percentage as they fell 6-1 to the Riverhawks.
The Cardinals stepped up early, responding to a quick goal by Riverhawk Dani Sibley as Shelby Iverson scored on a power play off assists by Anna Carlsen and McKenzie Revering, but North Wright County shut down Alexandria from there, holding them scoreless.
Maddi Sjelin added another first period goal for the Riverhawks, with Sibley and Rachel King each scoring goals in the second period, and Rachel Heiber adding two in the third.
Amy Jost took the loss in goal for the Cardinals as she made 23 saves.
