Quistorff, Pioneers win Spring/Summer national championship
Osakis native Bill Quistorff and his St. Paul Pioneers football team won the Spring/Summer national championship at USA Bowl VIII on Saturday, defeating the North Texas Longhorns 30-7.

Redbird competitive youth summer soccer registration
Registration for players interested in Alexandria Area Soccer Association Summer Youth Soccer opens on January 24, with the U11-U19 registration deadline March 1 and the U10 registration deadline April 1.
There will be an informational meeting on February 5 from 7-8 p.m. at the Discovery Middle School cafeteria and a player/parent meeting on March 19 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Discovery Middle School.

Stationary bike
race to benefit UCP
United Cerebral Palsy of Central Minnesota (UCP-CM) is hosting its annual stationary bike race, Stuck in Motion, on Saturday, January 26 at the Whitney Recreation Center in St. Cloud.
Teams of 10 will race between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for 20 minutes per rider. Each team raises funds for the programs and services of UCP-CM, which benefit persons with disabilities.
There will be pizza provided by Flying Pig Pizza, entertainment by Music in Motion and chair massages.

Team Extreme Ice
Fishing tournaments
Team Extreme Ice Fishing action will continue on Lake Minnewaska in Glenwood on January 27, followed by Pelican Lake in Monticello on February 27, Clearwater Lake in St. Cloud on March 3, Round Lake in Brainerd on March 31 and Mille Lacs Lake in Garrison on April 7.
This is a team event with two anglers per team, with eight crappies and eight sunfish allowed to be weighed in. In the Mille Lacs Lake event, the limit will be 15 perch.
Action will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and there is a limit of 75 teams.

Polar Plunge

Registration is now open for the 2013 Alexandria Polar Bear Plunge, presented by Minnesota law enforcement to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota.
The funds raised benefit more than 7,100 Special Olympics Minnesota athletes.
The Alexandria Plunge will be held at the Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center in Alexandria.
The Plunge begins at 1 p.m. on February 24. Check-in will be at the Plunge site.

Lakes Area Recreation holds open gym on Sundays for 35-older from 7-9 p.m. at the Discovery Middle School gym, running to the middle of April.

Tiny Dribblers
basketball program at LAR
Lakes Area Recreation is holding the Tiny Dribblers program for boys and girls in kindergarten as an introduction to the game of basketball.
The program will meet seven times at the Lincoln Elementary gym on Saturdays beginning on January 5 and running through February 16. Boys will meet from 9-9:45 a.m. and the girls will meet from 10-10:45 a.m.
Cost is $32 and includes a T-shirt.

There will be a youth basketball tournament in Montevideo for boys and girls in grades 5-7 on Saturday, March 23.
