Last Thursday, Osakis 7th graders took part in the Dust off Your Wings retreat. Osakis 9th grade family and consumer science students organized and led the retreat for their peers.

Through a variety of activities and discussion, students were challenged to “dust off their wings” and take action in their school to help create an atmosphere where all students feel safe, welcomed and connected. During one event, every student wore a pair of wings during a relay race and wrote down one thing they could do to create a more caring school climate. Then, they had to add their idea to the chain of kindness.

At the conclusion of the retreat, teacher Connie Ferris said, “If you are truly ready to dust off your wings and start your own chain reaction of compassion and kindness, please raise your wing!”
