Girls' basketball results

There wasn’t a letdown after the Osakis girls’ big win over Sauk Centre last Tuesday night. Quite the opposite, actually.

The Silverstreaks responded to that win by shooting 59 percent on their way to dominating Browerville 82-49 on Thursday. Osakis had 12 different players score and hit 25-of-37 shots from inside the arc to run away with its 10th win of the season.

Five different players scored in double figures on Thursday. Annalise Savageau led the way with 19. Brooke Sorenson had 15, Mackenzie Staloch and Becka Sadlemyer each had 11, while Brittney Sadlemyer poured in 10.

upsala 52, wca 50

The West Central Area girls had a furious rally in the final minute come up just short in a 52-50 loss against unbeaten Upsala last Thursday night.

The Knights trailed 50-44 in the closing minute before Holly Van Kempen and Kelsey Hammer each hit threes to tie that game at 50 apiece. Upsala was able to bounce back on its final possession, though, as the Cardinals connected on a two-pointer that moved them to 10-0 on the season.

Van Kempen was the catalyst for WCA with 22 points. Kylee Fernholz added 15 points and Hammer finished with five.

The two-point win was the closest game the Cardinals have had all season. They have beaten teams by more than 18 points per game on average. The win for Upsala helped it stay perfect in the Prairie Conference at 5-0.
