Boys' basketball: Osakis falls to St. John's Prep

The Osakis boys couldn’t overcome a 15-point first half as the Silverstreaks fell to St. John’s Prep 60-49 on Tuesday night.

Osakis hit 7-of-13 threes on the night but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Johnnies. Kilar Zimmel led the Silverstreaks with 16 points and nine rebounds. Lane Berberich and Doug Zimmel each added 11 points apiece as Osakis fell to 0-9 on the season.

“We made a good effort,” head coach Matt Hoelscher said. “We just gave up easy baskets right away that haunted us in the end. We made it close at the end of the game; we just couldn’t get the big turnover or big shot.”
