By: Lori Mork, Alexandria Echo Press

Three personal bests by Hannah Wendel earned her first place in two individual events and in the all-around as Alexandria edged Moorhead 135.95-133.6 Tuesday night.

Wendel won the vault with a personal best 9.25 and the beam with a personal best 9.4. She added a first place on the floor with a 9.15, and was fifth on bars with an 8.05.

Those four scores gave her a total of 35.85, another personal best that pushed her to the top spot in the all-around.

“What a meet for the Cardinal gymnastics team,” said head coach Becca Cederberg. “The Cardinals went up against the Moorhead Spuds at an away meet. The Cardinals grabbed the win, but it was a close scoring meet.”

The fourth individual event first place finish went to Briquelle Bowden on the bars with an 8.9.

Jana Roste also posted a personal best on the bars with a 7.5, good for seventh place.

The Cardinals will host a quadrangular tonight, Friday, at the gymnastics center, after having hosted Willmar last night, Thursday.
