ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

PART 1 – GENERAL

1.01 INTRODUCTORY INFORMATION

A. From: Kraus-Anderson Construction Company acting on behalf of Alexandria School District #206.

B. Project: RE-BID WORK SCOPE 14-A ELEVATOR ONLY

Alexandria New High School – BP-3

C. Key Dates:

1. Bid Due Date: Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 2:00 pm local time.

2. Cut Off Date for Questions and Interpretations: Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 2:00 pm.

D. Method of Delivery: Kraus-Anderson Construction Company has been selected as an Agency Construction Manager by Independent School District #206 to administer the construction of the Alexandria New High School located in Alexandria, Minnesota.

1. The overall project consists of a New High School including classrooms, offices, kitchen, gymnasium and fitness, and theater with a combined area of approximately 280,000 square feet. BP-3 will consist of Mechanical, Electrical, Exterior and Interior Finishes. The work will be constructed in one (1) phase in accordance with the Project Schedule.

E. Work Included in this Offering: We are presently soliciting competitive “Prime Contract Bids” for WS 14-A Elevator as defined herein.

1. All portions of the Work as defined in Section 01 12 10.

F. Bid Date and Location: Sealed bids will be received at Independent School District #206, 1410 South McKay Avenue, Alexandria, MN 56308 then publicly opened and read aloud. Bids will be received until 2:00 pm local time, on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.

G. Bid Security: Each bid shall be accompanied by Bid Security in form of certified check, cashier's check or bid bond in amount of five (5) percent of Base Bid submitted, made payable to Owner, as guarantee that Bidder will, if awarded, enter into Contract in accordance with Contract Documents and submitted Bid.

1.03 AVAILABLILITY AND PROCUREMENT OF BIDDING DOCUMENTS

A. Location for Review and Examination: Bidding Documents (Project Manual, Drawings, and other Contract Documents) are available at the locations indicated below for review and examination:

B. On-line via Franz Reprographics Website: Free electronic downloads are available by visiting www.franzrepro.com. (Phone Number for Franz Reprographics is 763-503-3401.) From the homepage, select “Kraus-Anderson Planrooms”, then “Minnesota”. After registration, select “Order Full Set”. You must complete the checkout process, selecting “electronic delivery” for the delivery method. After checkout, you will receive an email from notice@designbidbuild.net with a link to the downloadable files. Please add this email address as a “safe sender”, as all addenda notifications will also come from this address.

C. Hard Copy Documents – with Deposit: Document Sets are available upon deposit of $500 per set, and a non-refundable shipping and handling fee of $150 per set. Deposit will be refunded if documents are returned to Kraus-Anderson Construction Company in good condition, within 10 days after Bid Opening, and “Planholder” has submitted a Bid.

D. Hard Copy Documents for Purchase: Documents (complete sets only) may be purchased directly from Franz Reprographics.

1. Process for purchasing full sets of Bidding Documents: Bidders, Subcontractors and others may obtain non-refundable additional sets of Bidding Documents by ordering from and paying directly to Franz Reprographics.

2. Printer and Kraus-Anderson will not be responsible for notifying individual parties who obtained documents without completing the checkout process, when Addenda are issued.

E. A CD of the complete Bid Documents are available at No Cost from Kraus-Anderson. Please contact Ramona Holmes at 763-792-3612 to obtain a CD.

F. Examination of Documents: Bidder shall carefully examine entire content of Bidding Documents to become thoroughly familiar with the documents and project requirements. Refer to Instructions to Bidders for additional requirements.

G. Examination of the Site: Bidders shall make arrangements with the Construction Manager to visit the project site to obtain first-hand knowledge of existing conditions, including existing utilities and services, obstacles which may be encountered and all other conditions relative to the Work to be performed

1.04 OTHER CONDITIONS

A. Time of Completion: Refer to Section 01 32 00 - Bids shall reflect all costs necessary to meet this schedule requirement.

B. Owner’s Right to Reject Bids: Owner reserves the right to reject a Bid which is in any way incomplete or irregular or to waive informalities or irregularities in a Bid received, and accept a Bid, which in the Owner's judgment is in the Owner's best interests.

C. Additional Compensation: Contractors shall not receive extra payments for conditions which can be determined by examining the site and the Contract Documents.

Pre-Bid Conference: A Pre-Bid Conference will be held on January 8, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., at Kraus-Anderson’s Jobsite Trailer located at 4300 Pioneer Road SE, Alexandria, MN 56308.
