Empty Bowls Project classes planned

In the class, students in grades 4-9, paired with adults, will design and paint one bowl for themselves and one that will be donated and sold at the Empty Bowls event to be held on March 19.

Plans are under way for the third annual Empty Bowls Project fundraiser, the “Intergenerational Art Fun: Empty Bowls Project” class will be held at Discovery Middle School in Alexandria on Mondays, January 28 and February 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

In the class, students in grades 4-9, paired with adults, will design and paint one bowl for themselves and one that will be donated and sold at the Empty Bowls event to be held on March 19.

The class is $9 per youth/adult pair.

Proceeds from the sale of the bowls will go to three local charities that work to provide food for families and individuals in need.

During the class, District 206 youth service coordinator Lynn Ransom will share about the history of the Empty Bowls Project nationwide and the impact it has had locally. Kristina Peabody, art teacher at Discovery Middle School, will teach the class.

Most supplies and fees for the class are covered through an Intergenerational Art Grant awarded by Target Corporation.

Early registration is necessary, as there are a limited number of spots available.
