More than 700 5th and 6th grade students from several school districts, including Alexandria, will learn about everything from aliens to zombies at the annual 2013 Science Rocks! It will be held Thursday, January 10 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Cloud State University’s Wick Science Building.
The event is designed to introduce students to a variety of science and nature elements through presentations and hands-on learning.
The keynote speaker is ecologist and wolf expert Danielle O’Neill. She will speak about the status of gray wolves, which were taken off of the Federal Endangered Species List on January 27, 2012.
Students choose three of 24 other sessions to attend, including how geography can be used to help emergency planners prepare for a zombie attack.
Other sessions examine what life might be like on other planets, how drinking water is treated and medical imaging.
