B-E 62, Rothsay 25
The Brandon-Evansville boys made easy work of a 2-6 Rothsay team by handing the Tigers a 62-25 loss last Thursday night.
The Chargers gave up just 11 points in the first half on their way to a 16-point lead by the break. They used their defense to force 24 turnovers and gave the ball away just 12 times themselves to run away with their third conference win of the season.
“Rothsay had come off their only two wins of the season last week and were playing pretty well,” head coach John Holsten said. “We didn’t play last week, so we were a little concerned about that. It was 9-2 and 16-4 at one point, so we had a couple decent runs to start the game. The second half, the kids played good defense and limited them to four points in the first nine minutes of the second half.”
Three players in double figures allowed the Chargers to run away with things down the stretch. John Haseman had his usual big game with 29 points and six rebounds. Blake Satterlie poured in 13 points, while Patrick Schaffer had 10 points, seven assists, five steals and four rebounds.
The Chargers (4-5, 3-1 LEC) were scheduled to be at West Central Area (5-4, 3-2 Prairie) last night, Tuesday, before welcoming in Ortonville (4-3) on Thursday.
