To the editor:
In the December 19 issue of the Echo Press, the editorial quoted President Obama’s comments regarding the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. The president said, “Can we truly say, as a nation, that we are meeting our obligations? Can we honestly say that we’re doing enough to keep our children – all of them – safe from harm?”
Those are amazing statements by someone who supports abortion and pushes for increased federal funding for such organizations as Planned Parenthood that carry out the killing of over 3,000 of the most defenseless children in our country every day.
And if the president or anyone else wants to use the viability argument in defending the practice of abortion, the questions to be asked are:
—When is a child actually able to survive on its own?
—Were the children who were murdered at the school in Newtown capable of survival on their own?
The answer of course is obvious. Those children were depending on others to provide for their daily needs, including protection. The same is true for the unborn child in the womb.
And so my prayer is that those who support abortion would, by the grace of God, see that indeed all children need to be kept safe from harm, including those children who should be safe in their mother’s womb. And for anyone who made the choice of aborting a child and is now suffering from the guilt of that action, my prayer is for that person to turn to the one whose birth we celebrate at Christmas, the one who was born in order to die so that person could be forgiven by god and freed of the guilt that person is now carrying and be given true peace by the Prince of Peace.
