Math League takes third at meet

The Alexandria Team finished in third place behind Bemidji and Thief River Falls. Team scores were Bemidji (64), Thief River Falls (54), Alexandria (53), Breckenridge (40), Detroit Lakes (32), Pelican Rapids (31), Fergus Falls (30), Greenbush-Middle River (14), Nevis (13) and Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig (2).
Alexandria’s top individual scorer for this meet was Taylor Score with 11 points. He was followed by Ben Tollefson who scored 10 points.
Team scores are calculated by combining the scores of eight preselected individuals on individual exams and points earned during a team exam. During the individual rounds, students have 12 minutes to complete four math problems.
The problems cover different topics in algebra, geometry, advanced algebra, trigonometry and pre-calculus.
Alexandria’s next meet is Monday, January 14 in Fergus Falls.
