Letter - Congress swayed by greed, hubris
Deviating from the past presidential names for Alexandria schools doesn’t particularly concern me.
To the editor:
Deviating from the past presidential names for Alexandria schools doesn’t particularly concern me. Forgetting the significance of our nation’s founders and how they molded the future of the nation and Alexandria would be a great concern: The Declaration of Independence, Revolutionary War, The Federalist Papers, The United States Constitution, The Bill of Rights, the Civil War, and the list goes on.
These are not insignificant events; they are nation builders. Here was a brilliant dedicated group of people (including Washington, Jefferson and later, Lincoln) who didn’t always agree with each other’s thoughts, but never lost sight of a young nation and its survival. You might compare that to our present Congress, which seems more swayed by greed and hubris.
