It was tough going for the Lakers as they took on Class A’s No. 2 ranked Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Friday night, falling 75-53.
Austin Giese pumped in 21 points, keeping pace with the Jaguars’ top scorer on the night, Brian Goodwin, who dropped in 23, but the Lakers couldn’t go as deep as BBE, which had eight players score and had three in double figures.

WCA 66, Royalton 38
The West Central Area boys used some stifling defense to run away with a 66-38 win over Royalton last Thursday night.
The Knights held the Royals to 32 percent shooting and forced them into 18 turnovers. Royalton’s Luke Wentland scored 27 points against WCA last year but was held to 13 this time around. Matt Silbernick had games of 32 and 29 points this season but was limited to just two by the Knights.
“The kids followed the defensive game plan well,” head coach Kraig Hunter said. “We held down their top players and got them mentally fatigued with our full-court press. Once again, Alex Toms did a good lock-down job on Wentland and Brady Combs did well on Silbernick, but it was also the help defense of the rest of the team. The kids played good team defense.”
Dakotah Kashmark led the Knights defensively with a near triple-double. He finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Drew Peterson added 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Combs and Austin Redepenning had nice points apiece.
“I think our production off the bench this year has been great and keeps getting better,” Hunter said. “It is nice to have Austin Redepenning and Andrew Lindor with some offensive punch off the bench, and Jared Oachs played some good minutes tonight as well when we were in foul trouble in the first half.”
The Knights went into the Christmas break with a 4-2 record overall and a 3-1 mark in the Prairie Conference.
