Alexandria Nordic skiing: Sieling leads Cards
Both the boys and the girls finished second at Willmar
The Alexandria Nordic ski team used a bunch of top-10 individual finishes to finish second as a team in both the boys and girls races in Willmar last week.
The Cardinals got a third-place finish from Julia Sieling as she led the girls’ team against a small field that included host Willmar and Mora. Sieling finished in a time of 20:20, 18 seconds in front of teammate Melissa Gromatka, who came in fourth overall. Lauren Hagstrom was ninth in a time of 23:13. Emmy Bear and Hailey Haugen rounded out the girls’ varsity skiers with times of 26:25 and 27:26, respectively.
Pat Flynn helped carry the boys to a second-place finish by taking sixth overall. He came across the finish line in a time of 18:20. Cody Call was right behind him in seventh at 18:47. Carl Branch was eighth (18:54) and Eric Branch finished ninth (19:08). Sitka Corage and Casey Call finished in 21:35 and 22:04, respectively.
Alexandria is scheduled to host its home meet on January 5. Skiing is set to start at 10 a.m. that day.
