He was born October 17, 1962 to Berny and Heidi Fokken in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Steve graduated from St. Louis Park High School and attended St. Cloud State. He was a born salesman and worked for U.S. Foods in Plymouth and Menards in Alexandria.
He loved to fish at Lake Irene with his four-legged children, Tank and Emma. For more than 20 years, Steve was a member of the legendary Lake of the Isles "Isles North" ragtag hockey team. He was known for his signature spinorama move and grilling his famous shish kebobs for his hockey buddies.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He was the beloved son of Berny and Heidi Fokken, big brother of Susan (Steve) Charlier and Stacy (Shawn) Harding, special uncle to Alli, Justin, Madison, Gray and Jack. He is also survived by former wife, Kerry Olson, many uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends.
A celebration of Steve’s Life will be held Friday, December 28 at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8115 Highway 7, St. Louis Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the D.A.R.E. Program or CaringBridge.
