HealthCare Prep courses offered

Through District 206 Community Education, the Alexandria Area Adult Basic Education (ABE) Consortium is partnering with Alexandria Technical and Community College (ATCC) to offer a free HealthCare Prep course at ATCC this winter/spring.

Since this course is being offered at no cost to the first 20 qualified applicants, early registration is recommended. The registration deadline is January 29.

The HealthCare Prep curriculum, which was jointly developed by ATCC and ABE for this course, is meant to be a “bridge” for those going into the healthcare field.

The course will help students develop the skills and knowledge essential to succeed in the collegiate academic setting. The curriculum includes math, study skills, reading, writing, job shadowing, medical terminology, basic nursing skills and information on healthcare career options.

Since the program builds on academic, technical and soft skills of the participants, those who complete the class will not only be better prepared to take college coursework, they will also be better equipped healthcare employees.

To register or for more information, contact Carolyn Elliasen at (320) 763-3312, extension 1 or celliase@alexandria.k12.mn.us after January 6.
