The Blizzard picked up a split this past weekend as Alexandria gets set to host defending champion Granite City on Friday night.
The Blizzard rolled all over Breezy Point last Saturday on its way to a 9-3 win. That came after a slow start was too much to overcome in a 6-4 loss to North Iowa the night before.
Rickey Seidel and Chayce Coenen each had two goals against Breezy Point as seven players scored in all. The Blizzard put up four goals in each of the first two periods to open things up early.
It was North Iowa that took an early lead the night before. The Bulls put up three goals in the opening frame and three more in the third. Alexandria tried to come back with one in the second and three more goals in the third.
That tied things up late but Timothy Santopoalo scored the go-ahead goal with 15 seconds left in regulation and Connor Langfield scored on an empty net to put it away for North Iowa.
Seidel had two more goals against the Bulls as he finished with four on the weekend. Will Becker and Ritchie Brown also scored on Friday night.
Alexandria will try to get its first win of the season against Granite City at home tonight. The Lumberjacks come to the RCC for a 7 p.m. drop of the puck before the Blizzard travel to Little Falls to take on the Minnesota Flying Aces on Saturday night.
