Alexandria Nordic skiing: Cardinals are fourth, sixth

The Alexandria Nordic ski team completed its first 5K event of the season last Tuesday as the boys finished fourth and the girls took sixth at the St. Cloud Apollo Invite.

Cody Call led the Cardinals with an 11th place finish overall. He came across in 20:08, just four seconds faster than teammate Carl Branch, who finished 12th at 20:12. Pat Flynn and Eric Branch added top-20 finishes in times of 20:42 and 20:58, respectively. Dan Finazzo rounded out the boys’ team with by placing 40th in a time of 25:22.

Melissa Gromatka led the Cardinal girls with a 16th-place finish. She finished in 24:30. Adrianne Wensman (25:57) was 25th overall, Lauren Hagstrom (26:08) was 27th, Ellie Hurlen (27:53) took 36th and Emmy Bear finished 39th at 29:21 to round out the varsity skiers.
