Letter - How could this happen?

If you are the all-powerful, loving God you say you are, how could you let it happen? How could you allow 20 first-grade children to be so callously murdered? Where were you that morning in Sandy Hook School?

To the editor:

God, where are you?

If you are the all-powerful, loving God you say you are, how could you let it happen? How could you allow 20 first-grade children to be so callously murdered? Where were you that morning in Sandy Hook School?

I know you are supposed to be there to help us out under such circumstances as my grandparents have told us stories of how you got them through two world wars and the Great Depression.

I really do not know how all this is going to play out, so could you help get us organized so we can find some answers? Can you please give us something to hang on to – a guiding hand, or a book with some answers, or something?

I am here.

I gave you free choice and your choices have consequences. You told me to get out of your schools, so I did. You told me you did not need to come together as a community of believers; that you would worship what and how you wanted, in your own time, place and way. So the problems you have in common never got addressed.

You told me not to mix religion with your politics, so I let Dr. Spock and the media tell you how to raise your children, and I stood by as you killed thousands of my little ones with abortion.

I am. I have not changed. I still want all that is good for all my children. I have given you my word, that you might have life. I have given you my flesh that you might have my life within you and I have given you both that you shall have eternal life and feel the love of the Father here on Earth always and in all things.

Merry Christmas.
