Girls' basketball: Osakis tops Royalton

By: Eric Morken, Alexandria Echo Press

The Osakis girls completed a perfect week with a 57-27 win over Royalton last Friday night.

The Silverstreaks were able to take control through the first half as they built a 26-9 lead by the break. They never looked back after that, outscoring the Royals 31-18 to extend their unbeaten streak to four games to start the season.

“We didn’t have a great start tonight,” head coach Pat Kalpin said. “But give credit to Royalton. They did some things that got us out of sync. I felt the last 7-8 minutes of the first half, we did some real nice things both offensively and defensively that helped us build our lead.”

Annalise Savageau hit three three-pointers during that stretch on her way to a team-high 17 points. She was one of 10 players to score for Osakis. Senior Becka Sadlemyer had nine. Madi Forsell added eight, while freshman Brittney Sadlemyer finished with seven.

“The second half, we were able to continue to play well with all the girls contributing in a positive way for us,” Kalpin said. “I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, but we had 10 girls score again for us tonight. That is so key for us as the season goes on. Hopefully, we can continue that trend.”
