A white Christmas scene arrived just in time to set the stage for the 64th annual Jingle Bells telethon at the Lake Geneva Christian Center on Saturday.
While many folks opted to stay in and watch the program on one of three television channels or online, a full house showed up to see the acts perform live.
Vocalists, dancers, musicians and magicians shared the spotlight with a common bond – to help make the holiday season a little merrier for families in need. An estimated 75 people volunteered to put on the show and 90 volunteers worked the phones.
The Jingle Bells Foundation and Alexandria Jaycees hosted the event with numerous sponsors that brought in more than $115,000 and provided more than 900 food baskets. As many as 200 volunteers braved the Sunday blizzard to get the parcels to thankful recipients.
