A community open house for retiring Superintendent Terry Quist is set for Wednesday, December 19 at Discovery Middle School media center in Alexandria from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
The open house will feature music and refreshments and will provide an informal opportunity for community members to visit with Quist. A short presentation is planned for 4:30 p.m.
Quist has worked for District 206 for 25 years, first as curriculum director, then as assistant superintendent overseeing teaching and learning, and finally as superintendent. His time at District 206 was marked by significant curriculum changes to improve student learning.
During his six years as superintendent, he facilitated two building bond referendums, one to build a new K-6 school (Woodland Elementary) and another to build a new 9-12 high school, currently under construction.
Quist’s last day with the district will be December 31. His replacement, Rick Lahn, currently serves as superintendent of Princeton Public Schools. He will start on January 2.
