Alexandria girls' hockey: Brainerd's three-goal lead too much for Cards

After spotting Brainerd a three-goal lead, the Cardinal girls’ hockey team put forth a valiant effort, but couldn’t make up for the deficit, falling 3-1 to the Warriors Thursday night.
“It was the kind of night that players, coaches and parents dread because it happens in every sport, at every level, even the pros, and the harder you fight to get out of the “nothing is clicking, concrete on my legs” feeling, the tougher it seems to get,” said head coach Andy Shriver.
Despite outshooting the Warriors, Alexandria’s only goal of the night came with 12 seconds remaining in the third period when Shelby Iverson scored on assists from Madi Houska and Becca Illies.
“We’ll learn what we can from it, put it behind us and move forward,” said Shriver.
