Led by 12th place finishes from both Cody Call and Melissa Gromatka, the Cardinal boys and girls were fourth and sixth respectively at their season opener at Powder Ridge in Kimball Thursday.
“The Cardinals attended their first ski meet of the season, which also marked our first time on the snow,” said head coach Jeremy Rapp. “[We] are happy with the way our Cardinal athletes handled the situation and how well our new skiers did.”
Lauren Hagstrom, Adrianne Wensman, Hailey Haugen, Emma Bear and Ellie Hurlen raced along with Gromatka for the Cardinal girls, while Pat Flynn (14th), Carl Branch, Eric Branch and Dan Finazzo competed with Call.
The event was a three-lap skate race.
