• Vikings Savings Bank recently promoted Matt Gilbertson to the commercial lender position at the bank. Gilbertson has been with the bank since June 2009 and will be working with new and existing commercial customers at Vikings Savings Bank.
Gilbertson is a native of Alexandria and attended North Dakota State University completing a degree in business administration. He brings eight years of experience to the position ranging from financial underwriting to SBA loan orientation.
Viking Savings Bank is a locally owned community bank.
• Area native, Private Lucas McKirdy, 18, earned the title U.S. Marine upon graduating from Marine Corps recruit training in San Diego, California on November 9.
McKirdy completed 13 weeks of Marine Corps boot camp. The training honed vital military skills such as marksmanship, first-aid, martial arts and leadership.
Following 10 days of leave, McKirdy will attend school to learn his occupational specialty and then report to his first duty station to serve with a Marine Corps unit.
McKirdy is a 2012 graduate of Jefferson High School in Alexandria. He was enlisted by Staff Sergeant Kirk Ryan from the Marine Corps recruiting office in St. Cloud.
