Minnewaska basketball: Lakers pick up first WCC win

Led by a 28-point effort from junior Mady Phillips, the Minnewaska girls picked up their first conference win in two years, defeating Benson 68-51 on the road Tuesday night.
Phillips hit six shots from 3-point range, adding four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Minnewaska also got a double figure performance from Sydney Joos, who dropped in 17 points
The Lakers led by six at the half, and increased their lead with an 11-point advantage in the second half, despite allowing Benson’s Emma Peterson to score 19.
Minnewaska is now 1-2 overall and played at Morris last night, Thursday. They will be at the BOLD invitational on Saturday.
On Tuesday, the Lakers will host New London-Spicer.
