Alexandria boys' basketball: Cardinals romp past Storm
Alexandria rebounded from last week's loss to top Sauk Rapids
The Cardinals boys’ basketball team bounced back nicely from a one-sided loss to Moorhead in the season opener by returning the favor to Sauk Rapids-Rice in a 60-30 win.
Alexandria used its full-court defense to get some easy looks and pull away from the Storm in the first half. The Cardinals settled into a rhythm after the break and never let Sauk Rapids into the game.
“Rebounding also proved critical as the Cards forced many missed field goal attempts,” head coach Forrest Witt said.
Logan Doyle led the Cardinals with 17 points on a night when 11 different Alexandria players scored. David Krivanek had his second straight game in double figures with 10. Brandon Bistodeau finished with six points and John Vogeler returned from an ankle injury to add five.
Alexandria will have a week to prepare for its next Central Lakes Conference game. The Cardinals will welcome in a 1-1 Fergus Falls team next Tuesday as they try to move to 2-0 in league play.
