Gene Paul Provost, 80, Alexandria, died Monday, November 26, 2012 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gene was born May 14, 1932 to John and Cordelia (Bricault) Provost in Worcester, MA. Gene graduated high school and then worked for Dehlolm McKay Co. until he joined the United States Navy in 1952. He proudly served his country for several years during the Korean War.
After serving his country, Gene moved to Southern California and worked for the car wash industry for many years.
On November 12, 1977 Gene was united in marriage to Colleen O’Brien. They lived in Southern California, where Gene owned and operated a video store and electronic repair shop.
In 2000, Gene and Colleen moved to Alexandria and Gene worked at Mills Fleet Farm in the plumbing and electrical departments until he became ill in May of 2012.
Gene thoroughly enjoyed the customers he met and his co-workers. He enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing and his weekly poker game.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Colleen Provost of Alexandria; and many special friends and family members.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria. Visitation is one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
