Alexandria’s lone state entrant from the 2011-2012 season is back once again for the Cardinal Nordic ski team as junior Julia Sieling returns.
Sieling, along with senior Melissa Gromatka and junior Pat Flynn, earned Central Lakes All-Conference honors Mlast year, while returning letter winners Adrianne Wensman, senior; Lauren Hagstrom, junior; Becca Mateer, sophomore; Eric Branch, sophomore; Carl Branch, sophomore; and Cody Call, senior; all received honorable mention.
First year head coach Jeremy Rapp has strong returning boys’ and girls’ rosters for the upcoming year after the boys finished third in the CLC and the girls earned runner-up honors.
“The whole team is excited for this season,” he said. “This is a group that wants to work hard.
“We are coming off a bad season last year because of the bad snow conditions,” Rapp added. “This has an effect on being able to work on the Classic technique.
Rapp, who will be assisted by Taylor Ellison, sees Brainerd and St. Cloud Tech as having the potential to be the top teams in the CLC, with Little Falls, Brainerd and St. Cloud Cathedral vying for titles in the girls’ section. Brainerd, Bemidji and St. Cloud Tech look to be the early favorites in the boys’ second.
Alexandria’s first outing is tentatively scheduled for December 6 in St. Cloud.
