Lakeside Winter Dance Club begins season October 27
The Lakeside Winter Dance Club will enter its eighth season with its kickoff dance on Sunday, October 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood, featuring the Velvet Brass. The local musicians, led by John “Duffy” Morton, play tunes from big band to early rock and roll eras.
Four other dances will be included in the 2013-14 winter season:
Sunday, November 24, the Tuxedo Junction musicians will entertain the dancers.
Sunday, February 23, Velvet Brass will return for the sweetheart dance.
Sunday, April 6, the Tim Patrick Blue Eyes Band will serenade dancers with Sinatra-style vocals.
Sunday, May 4, Jerry O’Hagan, a metro area 10-person orchestra, will conclude the season.
Basic dance lessons, offered before the dances at 2 p.m., are free with admission.
The Winter Dance Club is a safe place to practice dance. Many of the dancers attending are new to dancing. Beginning dancers are always welcomed and encouraged.
Members joining the dance club fund all dance expenses. A season pass, which includes all five dances, is $60 for a couple. The rate for 17-30 year olds is $30 for a couple.
Individual passes are also available. A single dance is $10 per person or $5 for 17-30 year olds.
