Alexandria Precision Machining facility achieves ISO certification

Alexandria Industries' Precision Machining facility received the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 certification. The achievement recognizes the well-defined and documented quality management process and procedures for continual improvement that Alexandria Industries institutes across its organization.

"Developing a culture of continual improvement is fundamental to bringing innovation to our customers," said Brad Hoven, director of operations, Alexandria Industries. "The ISO 9001:2008 certification motivates us and assures our customers that outstanding quality is our baseline, not our finish line."

The company received support from the Growth Acceleration Program (GAP) - a state matching grant advocated for and secured by Enterprise Minnesota, part of the Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program.

Through the GAP, Alexandria Industries secured matching funds to support an ISO 9001:2008 internal team of nine employees dedicated to a rigorous 12-month evaluation of the Alexandria Precision Machining facility's quality management system.

"This ISO 9001:2008 certification exemplifies how manufacturers can use state matching grant programs to implement business improvement needs," said Bob Kill, president and CEO, Enterprise Minnesota. "The certification further validates the company's commitment to quality improvements, which lead to job retention, job creation and job growth potential."

Kill spoke at an ISO recognition event June 22 in Alexandria, where he presented Hoven with a plaque in honor of the certification.
