Zion School to hold annual auction
Zion Lutheran School in Alexandria will hold its 9th annual fundraising silent and live auction on Saturday, November 21 at the school, located at 300 Lake Street.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m. The first group of silent auction tables closes at 5 p.m., with the live auction beginning at 6:45 p.m.
This year's silent and live auctions feature more than 400 items, including gift certificates; home crafted items; diamond earrings; tickets for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Alexandria Blizzard, Alexandria Beetles and more; an official Tennessee Titans football signed by Kyle Vanden Bosch; a fishhouse; trailer; ATVs; motorcycles and more.
All Zion students are helping with the event, while learning important skills in the process.
Seventh and 8th graders learned writing and computer skills by writing letters to various sports teams and businesses requesting donations.
Fifth and 6th graders are creating gift cards for gift card baskets during their art class.
Fourth graders are creating a mosaic tile pattern on top of a sofa table to be auctioned off.
The 3rd grade class is creating a library basket, with each student contributing a favorite book.
Second graders made bird seed jars while learning to correctly measure ingredients.
The 1st grade class is creating a car survival kit, and kindergartners are using their artistic talents on an antique coffee table.
Even preschoolers are involved by bringing in items for a Minnesota Vikings Basket, Kids Art Basket and a Baking Basket.
This year's event includes something new - there are a select group of items that can be bid on online at www.MyBidHQ.com.
Everyone is invited to attend this event. A lunch wagon will also be available.
The complete auction bill will be published in this weekend's Lakeland Shopping Guide (green sheet), in the Friday, November 20 issue of the Echo Press and online at zionalex.org/auction.
