White Cane Day to emphasize fight against vision loss
Lions clubs battle preventable causes of sight loss and blindness all year long, but special times each year are dedicated to emphasize the fight against vision loss and other visual impairments such as macular degeneration.
Alexandria Evening Lions club members will be accepting donations at the annual White Cane Day event on Friday, June 15 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Pete's County Market and Elden's Fresh Foods of Alexandria have once again agreed to allow the Lions to conduct its event at their locations.
The event helps to raise money and public awareness for blind and visually impaired people. On these days, Lions members are able to emphasize their commitment to service.
Donations will also be accepted prior to the event. Those interested may mail their donation to the Alexandria Evening Lions at PO Box 724, Alexandria, MN 56308 and include "White Cane Day" on the memo line of the check.
