'When Hope Returns' airs Sunday
Lakes Area Theatre (LAT) in Alexandria is offering the following productions:
From the old time radio theater series Tales of Tomorrow, LAT presents Syndrome Johnny Friday, July 12 at 7 p.m.
By the 22nd century, Earth has experienced many plagues and epidemics. The few surviving humans have become more resilient, with the human body transforming in the process. There are some that believe these occurrences are not natural but purposely and systematically executed by one man.
The show is directed by Ann Hermes and stars Scott and Carolyn Giannone, Bruce Wegner, Quincy Roers and Bob Sievers. Music is by Bob Piotrowski, with Jamie Sandberg designing and performing the sound effects.
ON THE AIR
Minneapolis author Dennis Nau's short story When Hope Returns is about a retired, widower miner from Virginia, Minnesota, whose runaway daughter returns to him after 20 years. She has her teenage daughter in tow and needs her dad to take care of Hope.
Listen in on Sunday, July 14 at 12:30 p.m. on KXRA 1490 AM. The story was adapted to radio theater by Ann Hermes, directed by Kevin Lee and stars Kevin Lee, Paige Mackendanz, Keri Mohror and Mary Pohl. Bob Piotrowski arranged and performed the music. Mike Roers provided sound effects, which were enhanced by Ann Hermes in post-production.
