West Central Initiative launches new Web site
West Central Initiative (WCI) recently launched its newly revamped Web site.
It's still www.wcif.org, but now includes many new features, resources and online tools, including:
Web sites (or links to Web sites) for most of WCI's component funds, with links to online donation pages.
An events calendar where you can search by category and register online. You can also "Tell a friend about this event," see a map of the event location and receive an e-mail reminder before the event.
Online communities for the groups WCI works with. Members of the online groups will be able to use them to post messages and questions to each other, chat online with another member, create online photo galleries and file libraries, keep a group events calendar, post surveys and quizzes, and work collaboratively on a document.
Another feature in the works is online forums for each group. If you're interested in being a part of a group, WCI is inviting anyone, particularly those who live and work in west central Minnesota, to join "Regional Community."
The West Central Blogger is migrating to WCI's new Web site. Get the latest blog posts by clicking on "more" on the West Central Blogger box on the homepage, and clicking on the orange RSS button. If you are a member of an online group, click on the "subscribe" button.
On West Central News, regional organizations and businesses look to offer relief and hope during these difficult economic times.
February is National Dental Awareness Month. The Early Childhood Dental Network is offering free "I Find" posters for kids to learn about good oral health while helping Tommy and Anna find items in their basket. Download a poster or call 1-800-735-2239 to request a copy.
The deadline for Minnesota Beautiful (formerly Picture It Painted) grant applications is March 1.
Qualified government or nonprofit organizations in the nine-county region with restoration or beautification projects are invited to apply for paint, stain or other products.
