Wendel takes ninth in all-around
Alexandria’s Hannah Wendel used a big performance on the vault to catapult her to a ninth place finish in the all-around at the gymnastics state tournament on Saturday in Minneapolis.
Wendel finished with a 37.05 score in the all-around, good for a ninth place finish out of 32 competitors.
She captured a 9.65 on the vault, which was the second highest score in the competition. Wendel was not qualified to place on the vault, but the score was a boost in the all-around.
Wendel also finished with a 9.35 in the floor routine and a 9.0 in the uneven bars.
Despite falling on the beam during her routine, the judges awarded Wendel with a 9.05.
“She had a very beautiful, confident routine, but took a fall during one of her jumps,” head coach Rebecca Cederberg said.
