Wendel named gymnastics MVP
Hannah Wendel capped off a strong season for the Alexandria gymnastics team by earning the Most Valuable Gymnast Award.
Season achievements for Wendel included being named all-state in the vault, bars, beam, floor and all around; all-conference in all four events and the all-around, and earning the Central Lakes Conference Performer of the Week award. Wendel also earned certificates from the team naming her Most Valuable Varsity Vault and Most Valuable Varsity Floor.
Other plaque winners for the Cardinals included Jana Roste for the Hardest Worker award and Maryn Vaagenes for Most Improved Gymnast. Bria Schueler earned a certificate for Most Valuable Varsity Bars and Tahlia Bowden earned Most Valuable Varsity Beam.
Bowden also earned all-state recognition on the vault and beam this season.
The varsity season best score for the Cardinals this year was 140.15, and the team set a new team record on the vault at 35.6.
