WCA girls pick up road win

The West Central Area girls’ basketball team picked up its sixth win of the season in a 38-30 victory on the road against Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Friday.

The Knights led 16-9 at halftime but allowed WHN back into the game in the second half. The Warriors tied the game 21-21 in the second half, but WCA pulled away from there for the eight-point victory. Head coach Beth Hill would like to see the Knights improve at putting continued pressure on teams once they are ahead.

“We failed to put the game away,” Hill said. “We have a tendency to let teams stick around longer than they should with us.”

Tiana Christenson and Holly Van Kempen led the Knights’ offense with 10 points each. WCA is now 6-2 overall this season.
