The West Central Area boys’ basketball team won a back-and-forth overtime battle with Underwood on the road Friday.

The game was senior night for the Rockets, and that inspired them to rise up against a WCA team that is now 10-4 on the season.

“It was their senior night, and they played with much emotion, fire, and were not going to be denied,” WCA head coach Kraig Hunter said. “Fortunately for us, our kids were able to play through their loud gym and emotion, and continued to respond the last six minutes of regulation and four minutes of overtime.”

The Rockets forced overtime after Adam Creek was fouled on a three-point shot with the Knights up 69-66 and six seconds remaining. WCA ended up prevailing in overtime with Jay Zimmerman hitting the winning basket at the buzzer in overtime for an 81-79 victory.

Zimmerman scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Knights, and Dakotah Kashmark also had a big night, scoring 25 points.

Creek led the Underwood offense with 25 points.
