Update: Police arrest robbery suspect

Warriors too much for Card swimmers

The Alexandria swimming and diving team faced its second straight strong opponent to start the season and suffered its second loss in a 122-64 meet against Brainerd.

The Cardinals got a nice night from Madalyn Winger as she collected two wins. They came in the 200 IM as Winger won in 2:26.22 and also the 500 freestyle, where she touched the wall in 5:46.77.

Hannah Eklund followed suit in the 100 breaststroke. She won in a time of 1:12.24. Brainerd won the rest of the way and had an edge in almost all of the close races.

Alexandria did receive 15 season bests on the night. Two apiece came from Ally Timm, Mikayla Meece and Eklund. The biggest improvements came from Meece as she dropped eight seconds in the 200 freestyle and Kallie Zieman after shaving four seconds off her time in the 200. Jenna Kremer also added 17 points in the diving competition.

The Cardinal swimmers were off until tomorrow, Thursday, before they take on another Central Lakes Conference foe in Sartell.
