Violet Scott, 85

Violet Lavonne Scott, 85, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013.

Violet was born October 30, 1927 in Kennard, NE to Lars and Johanna (Cook) Frandsen. She was baptized at the Lutheran church in Kennard and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church near Scribner, NE. Violet received all of her education in Nebraska and became a teacher. She taught for four years.

Violet began a career at the Union Pacific in Omaha, NE. She was united in marriage to Gene Scott on October 27, 1967.The couple made their home in Omaha. Violet worked for Union Pacific for 35 years before retiring.

In 1986, the couple moved to Alexandria. Violet was active in the churches that she attended. She served as a choir member for many years. Violet also enjoyed traveling, sewing and reading. She loved flowers and loved to visit with her friends and relatives. Violet was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Her parents and one sister, Verla Jones, preceded her in death.

Violet is survived by her two stepsons, David Scott of North Bend, NE and Jeffrey Scott of Omaha, NE; sister, Verda Dougherty and husband, Thomas, of Rio Verde, AZ; her brother, Vernon Frandsen and wife, Jane, of Fremont, NE; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A funeral service was held Monday, September 16 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Jerry Lanes officiating. Mark Graf provided music. Interment followed at Lake Mary Cemetery near Alexandria. Casket bearers included David Scott, Jeffrey Scott, John Marshall, Dennis Bleess, Fred Rodel and Bill Dougherty.
