The Viking Speedway at the Douglas County Fairgrounds is kicking off the Winter Spectacular snowmobile races today with a test and tune day for the racers. Fans are welcome to attend today before heat races start on Friday.

Snowmobile racers from vintage sleds to championship classes are making their way to Alexandria to make sure their sleds are ready to go for the start of those heat races. Saturday will feature all the finals in every class. Racing starts at 10 a.m. both days.

Fans ages 15 and older can get in for $10 a day or get a three-day pass for $25. Those 14 and younger can get a three-day pass for $5.

A driver representative from each of the four championship classes will meet at noon on Saturday and roll a dice. The driver who has the high roll will win the right for their class to race for the grand prize, a 2014 BRP Sea-Doo Spark.
