Viking Library System offers new service
Viking Library System (VLS) library card holders now have access to more than 100 magazine titles in digital format.
Residents of the six-county region can sign up online with a VLS library card to obtain an account and then immediately begin to download their favorite magazines.
All magazines are in full color with all stories, pictures, charts and advertising included. Some of the titles, including National Geographic, are interactive and include videos and activities.
Digital magazines can be read on any computer, tablet or smart phone including Kindles and all Apple products. Account set up requires Internet access, but downloaded magazines can be read offline at any time.
Digital magazines provide portable access to many titles and sometimes the only access to titles that no longer provide print editions.
The service includes simultaneous use, allowing an unlimited number of users to view the magazine at the same time. Every title can be kept as long as the user chooses; there are no due dates and no fines.
Residents of VLS can get a library card in any of the VLS member libraries located in Browns Valley, Alexandria, Elbow Lake, Fergus Falls, Glenwood, Hancock, Morris, New York Mills, Pelican Rapids, Perham and Wheaton or at any bookmobile stop.
Online sign up is available with a library card at www.viking.lib.mn.us/digitallibrary.html or by visiting a local library's website.
