Alexandrians were part of a nationwide celebration Tuesday evening - the 29th annual National Night Out.

The Alexandria Police Department and city of Alexandria hosted the event at Alexandria City Park. Citizens mingled with police officers, firefighters and emergency personnel as they browsed the informational booths and enjoyed free refreshments.

A bounce house for youngsters and rides in the Alexandria Light and Power's lift bucket added to the jovial spirit of the night, aimed at increasing awareness of crime and drug prevention.
