Van Kempen leads WCA past Royalton

Holly Van Kempen led the West Central Area girls’ basketball team with 21 points in a 47-31 win against Royalton Friday.

Van Kempen provided more than just scoring for the Knights, also picking up seven rebounds, four steals and two assists. Head coach Beth Hill enjoys having Van Kempen as a versatile part of the lineup.

“She is such an athletic player and can play anywhere on the court, which makes her difficult to guard,” she said.

The win helped push the Knights to 4-1 this season, including 2-1 in the Prairie Conference. With only one loss the Knights are pleased with how the season has started.

“Going into Christmas break 4-1 is a pretty good place to be,” Hill said. “We have had some ups and downs but overall we are playing well.”
