Urban presented as president at ATCC
Laura Urban was announced the new president of Alexandria Technical and Community College by the Minnesota State College and Universities (MnSCU) Board of Trustees on March 19. Urban was formally presented at ATCC on Monday morning, March 24.
After comments by current President Kevin Kopischke, Chancellor Steven J. Rosenstone, and members of the Board of Trustees, Urban spoke about her excitement to be a part of the Alexandria community and to serve ATCC.
“I am very pleased to have been selected as president and have the opportunity to lead this outstanding college,” Urban said after initially being appointed. “The opportunities that Alexandria Technical and Community College provides through education, innovation and leadership are vital to our graduates as well as regional businesses, and I look forward to being part of its continued success.”
Urban announced that she will return to ATCC a few times prior to her start date in July to work with Kopischke.
Kopischke’s last day as president of ATCC will be on June 30 and Urban will begin on July 1. Kopischke has served as the president of ATCC since 2004 and as vice president before that since 1991.
Urban previously served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Gateway Community and Technical College since 2010. Previously, she served at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Community College (WI) as chief academic officer and academic dean from 2006 to 2010, and at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College from 1997 to 2006.
