Update Friday: Firefighters battle house fire near Garfield

A woman who suffered burns in a house fire south of Garfield Thursday was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center.

At 9:59 a.m. Thursday, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a house that was on fire at 9355 State Highway 27 West. The Garfield Fire Department, Douglas County Sheriff's Office and North Ambulance responded to the call.

A woman was inside the home at the time of fire and was able to escape, but she suffered burns to her body, according to the sheriff's office. She was transported by North Ambulance to the Douglas County Hospital and later airlifted.

The Brandon Fire Department also assisted at the fire. Firefighters were on scene for about three hours.
